| Before you, my Crucified Lord, I ask myself: what have I done for you, Lord? What am I doing for you? What will I do for you? What will I do for you? My God, nailed to the cross. Why is it that you, the Creator, have come into our flesh; having eternal life, made yourself fragile, even unto dying on the cross? Why is it that you, the eternal Word of God, powerful and full of glory, chose to become an offering out of love for me, a sinner? Before you, my Crucified Lord, I ask myself: what have I done for you, Lord? What am I doing for you? What will I do for you? What will I do for you? My God, nailed to the cross. Cao Gia An SJ (1981- ) is a Vietnamese Jesuit, musician, and composer known for integrating Ignatian spirituality with elements of his country’s musical tradition. Ordained as priest in the Society of Jesus, he has developed his ministry by combining theological reflection, pastoral service, and musical creation. His compositions – including “Lam Gi Cho Chua,” adapted by Cristóbal Fones – are marked by contemplative language and deep spiritual sensitivity. His work seeks to express, through simple melodies and poetic prayers, the Ignatian experience of standing before Christ and speaking with Him as a friend to a friend.
